Light rain for the first hour followed by partly sunny skies and a cool breeze out of the north allowed nearly ideal conditions for racing on the Rock River Canyon course.  Complete results are now available for viewing.  Cory Fries of Bluffton, South Carolina (4:31:24) ) and Iris Lenauer of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario (5:23:06) captured the overall titles in the 50K.  The course featured over 4,300 ft of climbing and descent.  Adam Cornette of Marquette, MI was the only other runner to crack the five hour barrier, finishing 2nd overall in 4:57:00.  Micah Middaugh of East Jordan, MI completed top trio, crossing the line in 5:14:49.  In the women’s race, Katie Daman of Fife Lake, MI was just 12 minutes back from Lenauer, finishing in 5:35:34.  Jayme Collier of Petoskey, MI took the podium’s third spot (7:28:47)

 

The 27K saw Ryan Miller of Houghton, MI (2:55:25) and Catherine Austin of Crystal Falls, MI (3:08:22) as the overall winners.  Jake Zaleewski of Tomahawk, WI (3:07:45) and Jeff Kuehn of Wetmore, MI (3:08:26) captured 2nd and 3rd in the men’s race.  Erin McGhee (3:18:31) of Menominee, MI and Cicily Fortin (3:32:00) of Marquette, MI took 2nd and 3rd among the women.
